Your 4 favourite words: Contour, Anti-age, Reduce, Tighten

It’s not often we get overly excited about a new product. We are constantly inundated with the “latest and greatest” and seldom convinced to take the product on board. When BTL approached us wanting to showcase their latest in laser technology we expected another sales gimmick. To our surprise we were introduced to a remarkable piece of equipment. The BTL Exilis Elite™.

Threads… YOUR lunch time face lift!

Oh, to be young. Youth is taken so for granted. Things like freedom, midday naps, six-week holidays, collagen and elastin… oh to be young.

We are living such a fast-paced life, it’s no wonder we look exhausted and feel we are ageing by the minute. It seems the only way to get that youthful face back is by booking yourself in for a nip and tuck! But let’s be honest, you don’t have the time or energy for that recovery.

The dreaded spread…

Did you find yourself stuffing more than the Christmas turkey this festive season? An extra glass of bubbly to welcome the New Year? Don’t worry because I can assure you that you weren’t the only diet offender these holidays. I mean, who leaves a perfectly roasted potato in the bottom of the pan?

Do you know the muffin man?

I don’t think there is a single soul in the world that isn’t, at one stage in their lives, critical about a certain aspect or area of their body. And even if they say inner beauty is more valuable, a beautiful kidney is totally overrated

FRAXEL® – “We’re bringing beauty back”

You’ve probably heard about this treatment or at least heard the word once but weren’t really sure what it is or even what it does. Well let me clarify as best as I can. Fraxel® is a non-ablative resurfacing laser that treats and targets almost every skin concern out there. It is indicated for everything from fine lines and wrinkles; hyperpigmentation (including Melasma); acne scarring; enlarged pores and scarring.

“The Pen is Mightier than the Sword.”

This really is quite the statement and pretty wise words thanks to Edward Bulwer-Lytton in 1839. I wonder if he knew how right he was about the pen because we would have to agree. These days the tight faced, unrecognisable surgical treatments are phasing out more and more, and less aggressive yet effective aesthetic treatments are more popular than ever. I would like to compare the “sword” to a plastic surgeon’s scalpel; harsh, invasive and in some cases causing long term damage and irreversible botch ups. Thank goodness that time is forever changing and that new and improved methods of anti-ageing procedures are available. Thank goodness for the “Mighty Pen” – the Dermapen®.

Take it off! Take it off!

No no… it’s not what you think ladies… what I mean is take that ageing “deadness” off your beautiful faces. In the words of Elsa from Frozen, “Let it go, let it goooooo!”

Neck and Décolleté: Your true age tell-tale?

As your skin ages, it loses its youthful tone and texture. Whilst we are very aware of the ageing process on our faces, we often forget that our neckline and décolleté are susceptible to the very same damage.

Why the Long Face?

The low down on sagging skin

You’re ageing each and every day, even now as you’re reading this, the structure of your skin is deteriorating due to sun exposure, poor diet, your genes (thanks Gran!) and collagen breakdown resulting in a very saggy look. Ageing is just one of those things we can’t escape and it will eventually get to a point in each person’s life where he or she will look in the mirror and seriously consider drastic measures… I’m talking face lifts here people… Don’t deny it. You’re looking in the mirror, tugging at your droopy jowls and turning your head into more flattering angles you think to yourself, “if only this was gone I’d be so much happier”.  Reality TV has made this desire seem so much more attainable as well as the quickest and only true solution to achieve that younger, fresher look. A snip here, a cut there, a couple of stitches later, a deluxe suite at a safari recovery lodge and taadaa!

Acne, a four letter word

Most of us remember those “acne-ugly” years. Whether it was an occasional break-out or an absolute hormone revolt, it is likely to have left us scarred, literally and figuratively.
