Fraxel® Re:Store Downtime
The Doctor will assess the condition and skin type to develop the most appropriate treatment plan for the concern(s). Due to the comparatively aggressive nature of the treatment, we recommend that our patients come in an hour before their scheduled appointment to have some topical anesthetic applied. This will help numb the area to be treated.
For the first 24-48-hours the treated area is red, and may appear swollen (like a severe sunburn). Between days 3 and 5 the treated skin tends to darken, creating a bronzed effect. From day 4 or 5 the skin starts feeling tight and will start flaking and peeling. Depending on the individuals reaction and the depth of treatment, our patients can expect the entire healing process to take between 7 and 14 days. For the first 7-days post-procedure, our patients are provided with an emollient to relieve some to the tightness. It is advised that they keep their skin moist to assist in the recovery thereof. Our patients usually have to avoid the use of their normal home care products as well as sun exposure and it is recommended that they apply a high SPF sunblock every two hours for the duration of their recovery.
