The Aesthetic Centre offers a safe and effective method for the removal of unwanted tattoos easily and permanently. Although many lasers are used to remove tattoos, The Aesthetic Centre has found the ND:Yag to be the most effective and least painful. Please note that results will vary per individual*.
How Does Tattoo Removal Work?
Lasers produce short pulses of light that pass harmlessly through the top layers of skin, selectively targeting the pigment of the tattoo without damaging the surrounding skin. The energy causes the ink in the tattoo to fragment into smaller particles which are flushed out by your body’s lymphatic system.
Is Tattoo Removal Right for My Tattoo?
Tattoo removal can be utilised on any unwanted tattoos. However smaller, darker tattoos respond better than lighter colours over a larger area.
- Black, blue and green respond well
- Red, orange and yellow may fade
How Many Sessions Are Necessary?
Tattoo removal requires between 8 and 12 treatments to be most effective. The number of sessions you require will depend on factors such as the density, depth and colour of the ink of your tattoo, and the area of your body.
A treatment can be done every 2 – 4 weeks to allow recovery and healing time for your skin between sessions.
What Should I Expect?
The effect of the tattoo removal treatment is very similar to being tattooed. Some people describe it as similar to the snapping of a rubber band on the skin. Some areas are more sensitive than others. If required, a topical anaesthetic can be applied to numb the skin prior to treatment.
After the treatment, the skin will be inflamed (similar to sunburn) and superficial scabs may form. Healing takes place over 4 – 10 days.
Tattoo Removal Aftercare
The aftercare for Tattoo Removal is similar to that of the tattoo.
- Anti-septic cream should be applied
- Avoid the sun and sunbeds until the skin is completely healed
- Avoid Asprin for pain relief as it may break down clots that are necessary to ensure good results
- DO NOT pick the scabs or blisters. This could cause scarring
- Sunscreen should be worn daily
